The Government has announced proposals for the resurrection of the Post Study Work Visa (‘PSWV’) which, originally introduced in 2004, was removed in 2012.
Sharan Rupra of Kangs Solicitors outlines the proposals.
The Intentions | Kangs Immigration Solicitors
As from 2020, international graduates could qualify for a two year period to work in the UK, potentially increasing their chances of finding long term employment after studying.
There will be no cap on the number of students who may apply for jobs regardless of the nature of their skills or the subject studied.
The wish is to recruit and retain high quality global graduates in disciplines such as maths, engineering and technology.
The PSWV will be available to those who:
- have successfully completed a course in any subject at undergraduate level or above at an approved Higher Education provider or a University,
- hold a track record of compliance, and
- hold the appropriate visa (Tier 4) – Valid Immigration Status as a student.
International students will be able to work, or look for work at any level, in any career or position of their choice for two years after completing their studies and thereafter, apply for a long team work visa.
