Legal Fees for Motoring Offences

At Kangs Solicitors, our specialist Road Traffic Law & Motoring Department provides a discrete, efficient and professional service recognising at all times the sensitivity of each client’s particular circumstances.

In accordance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority Transparency Rules, we are obliged to provide costs details in relation to the ‘provision of advice and representation at the Magistrates’ Court in relation to summary only road traffic offences dealt with at a single hearing.’

What is a Summary Only Offence?

There exists a wide range of ‘summary only’ road traffic offences and some of the most common examples include:

  • Drink driving
  • Speeding
  • Careless Driving
  • Driving without Insurance
  • Failing to provide a Specimen
  • Failing to stop/report a road accident

Our Fees

Our fees for representing clients in relation to such matters will range from £1,250 plus VAT to £3,000 plus VAT to include preparation for the hearing and representation at one single Magistrates’ Court hearing.

The preparation for the hearing will include:

  • considering the Prosecution evidence,
  • advising the client in relation to this evidence,
  • providing advice on plea, sentence and mitigation.

The exact fee will be dependent on the location of the Court in England & Wales and the complexity of the case.

Should the matter proceed beyond one single hearing or if a trial is necessary, we will provide clients with further costs details including the likely total overall costs of the case.

It is unlikely that any disbursements will be incurred in most single hearing summary only cases. If such disbursements are likely to be incurred (such as counsel’s fees, expert’s fees or travel costs), the client will be advised of such likely costs in advance so that an informed decision can be made in relation to such costs before liability is incurred.
