Intense international action has been focused by enforcement agencies against suspects believed to be selling the Imminent Monitor Remote Access Trojan (‘IM RAT’).

Twenty one search warrants have been executed across the UK with another eighty five having been executed in countries such as Poland, Belgium, Sweden, Colombia, Spain and the Netherlands.

What Is An IM RAT? | Kangs Cyber Crime Advisory Team

  • This cheap hacking tool allows cyber criminals to steal data, and spy on victims through their webcams.
  • IM RAT can be obtained online for less than £20. It is believed to have been purchased by over 14,500 people in 124 countries.
  • Once the malicious software has been secretly installed within a victim’s device, hackers are able to take full remote control which allows them to disable antivirus software, steal data, view footage from webcams and even record key strokes.
