Sukhdip (‘Suki’) is Head of the Investigations & Magistrates’ Court Team at Kangs.

As a specialist advocate, he regularly appears in Magistrates’ Courts throughout England & Wales representing organisations and individual clients on a wide range of matters from fraud prosecutions to the most complex regulatory hearings.

A widely respected court room advocate and criminal litigation solicitor, Suki joined the firm in 2011.

Since qualifying as a Solicitor in 1997, Suki has amassed over two decades of experience in a wide range of criminal, fraud and regulatory investigations and prosecutions.

Major Fraud Investigations & Prosecutions

Suki acts for both corporate organisations and private individuals, often in multi-million pound investigations conducted by the major prosecuting authorities including:

  • The Serious Fraud Office
  • The National Crime Agency
  • The Financial Conduct Authority
  • HMRC (including Tax Tribunal fraud related civil proceedings)
  • BEIS
  • The Health and Safety Executive
  • The Environment Agency
  • Trading Standards

As a result of his work in financial fraud investigations, Suki is very experienced in dealing with confiscation and restraint proceedings pursuant to the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (‘POCA’).

His experience encompasses all applications pursuant to POCA including Restraint Orders, Account Freezing Orders, Cash Seizures, Confiscation Orders and Civil Recovery Orders.

Dawn Raids & Interviews

Suki is a member of the Kangs 24 Hour Rapid Response Team and is well versed in assisting and advising corporate organisations and individuals in relation to Dawn Raids undertaken by UK investigating agencies.

He is experienced in advising in relation to the use and scope of search and seizure powers during dawn raids.

Suki has represented clients in thousands of investigations and interviews under caution and his vast experience in this area is much admired by his peers and welcomed by clients.

With a deep understanding of the stress and anxiety caused by regulatory or police intervention, Suki employs an empathetic approach with a view to minimising the impact caused to his clients by the complex demands of such an intervention.

Suki takes a pro-active stance at an early stage in dealing with investigations as it can often lead to the avoidance of criminal proceedings against a company or individual and bring the investigation to a swift
conclusion.

Suki regularly represents corporate organisations and company directors facing financial misconduct allegations and such instructions often stem from a dawn raid.

Serious Crime

As a specialist criminal litigation Solicitor, Suki has spent much of his career in the defence of clients facing serious crime investigations and prosecutions including:

  • Murder, manslaughter and assault
  • Drugs offences including cross-border trafficking
  • HMRC investigations & money laundering
  • Human trafficking and modern slavery
  • Blackmail & robbery
  • Fraud & theft

Regulatory Investigations

Suki has a wealth of experience representing organisations and businesses in relation to food safety and environmental health investigations. He has a national client base ranging from multi-national companies to SME businesses in the food and beverages sector.

He undertakes work in all courts of England & Wales and acts in food hygiene investigations conducted by local authorities throughout the country.

In addition to the above, Suki acts in a wide range of regulatory investigations conducted by the Environment Agency (waste disposal and environmental damage allegations including water pollution), Trading Standards, the Insolvency Service, the ICO and the Health & Safety Executive.

Motoring Offences

As head of the Magistrates’ Court Team at Kangs Solicitors, Suki is the lead defence advocate for the firm in Magistrates’ Courts.

He is a gifted advocate and has considerable experience in defending the full range of driving offences.

Suki acts in the most serious motoring cases where, sadly, fatalities have occurred.

Suki appreciates that the imposition of penalty points or the loss of a driving licence may have very severe consequences for a client’s personal and work life.

He prides himself on being an experienced and fearless advocate who puts great energy and enthusiasm into challenging the prosecution case. Suki enjoys the challenge of a demanding case and takes huge pride in applying his considerable experience to achieving a successful outcome for his client.
