Amandeep Murria of Kangs Solicitors reports on the circumstances.
The Circumstances | Kangs Criminal Defence Solicitors
Our client was accused of driving his motor vehicle dangerously towards his friend, in a fit of rage after an argument, intending to cause grievous bodily harm.
As the result of the injuries he received during the incident, our client was taken to hospital and subsequently arrested and interviewed by the police.
How We Assisted Our Client | Kangs Criminal Defence team
Having discussed the available evidence and the matter generally with our client, he appreciated the substantial difficulties that presented in defending the allegation of dangerous driving.
Accordingly, we conducted detailed negotiations with the Prosecution with the result that our client pleaded guilty to the allegation of Dangerous Driving on a written Basis of Plea which explained his limited involvement in the incident.
As the result of this action, the Prosecution offered no evidence in respect of the more serious allegation of attempting to cause Grievous Bodily Harm.
The Successful Outcome | Kangs National Criminal Trial Team
At the Hearing, our client was sentenced to:
- a suspended prison sentence, thereby enabling him to retain his liberty
- a curfew requirement for a period of 6 months
- a period of disqualification from driving.
Our client was most appreciative of the outcome because it enabled him to retain his liberty and the opportunity to rebuild a future for his family.
