Not Guilty Verdict at Manchester Crown Court

Kangs Solicitors were instructed to act on behalf of Robert Shannon, a renowned boxing trainer who has worked with numerous champions including former world light welter weight champion Ricky Hatton.

Mr Shannon was charged with one count of sexual assault against a fourteen year old girl. The Prosecution sought to adduce as bad character evidence Mr Shannon having a relationship in the past with another underage girl.

The case was of a very sensitive nature. Mr Shannon was unanimously acquitted after a five day trial at Manchester Crown Court.

As part of the defence case, telephone billing and detailed phone analysis was undertaken, along with testimonials from numerous character witnesses.

The case was conducted by John Veale of Kangs Solicitors. Defence counsel instructed was Mr David Mason QC.
