A Tale of Three Captains | Kangs Sports Law Solicitors

We focus on three clients of Kangs Sports who captained their respective Football League teams to victory this weekend.

    Lee Collins | Mansfield Town

Lee Collins captained Mansfield Town to an impressive 4-0 victory against Hartlepool.

The versatile 28 year old, who can play in in defence or midfield, led his team into the Sky Bet League Two play-off places with this resounding result.

This is the fourth win in a row for Lee and his team who have not conceded a goal in 352 minutes of League football.

    Marc Richards | Northampton Town

Marc Richards continued his brilliant career goal-scoring record by netting in Northampton Town’s 3-1 home victory against his former club Chesterfield on Saturday.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Barnsley striker had a chance to score in the eighth minute but his attempt was saved by the Chesterfield goalkeeper.

However, the Northampton Town Captain was on hand to score a fine header from a Matt Taylor free-kick to put the Cobblers 3-0 up in the game.

The result was a decisive win for Northampton against their League One rivals and is new boss Justin Edinburgh’s second successive home win since taking over the Sixfields hot seat.

    Michael O’Connor | Notts County

The former Irish International Michael O’Connor captained his Notts County side to a 2-1 home win against Cheltenham Town this weekend watched by a crowd of just under 8,000.

The Magpies were on top from the opening stages of the game and they took the lead in the 24th minute. The architect of the goal was midfielder Michael O’Connor with a superb curled pass around the Cheltenham defence which picked out the run of team mate Jon Stead who rifled the ball into the Cheltenham net.

Notts County went 2-0 up with just over 30 minutes played and although they conceded a late goal they held on to secure all three points.

The win for Notts County maintains their unbeaten home record under new boss and former Bolton and West Ham legend Kevin Nolan.
