Last week, Police conducted the largest ever seizure of cocaine in Europe, with an estimated street value of hundreds of millions of pounds, resulting in six arrests.

Investigations are continuing.

Hamraj Kang of Kangs Solicitors reports on the circumstances.

The Circumstances | Kangs Drug Offences Defence Team

The haul, weighing 8.74 tonnes, was concealed in 1080 boxes of bananas and its seizure resulted from Europol gathering intelligence and working closely with the Colombian Government.

The shipment was tracked from South America to the port of Algeciras in the Bay of Gibraltar.

According to the Columbian Government, a former paramilitary group, called the Gulf Clan, is responsible for the shipment which departed on a Singapore-flagged boat from the Golfo de Uraba in Northern Columbia.
